Pest Control Methods that Last for the Year

At Breda Pest Management, we know that it can be a pain to wait for a service technician to show up to treat your home for pests. For that reason, we've developed a once-yearly pest control program that only inconveniences you for a short amount of time on a single day. This makes it easy to get 'get home treated' off of your to-do list for a full year. Here's what happens during an annual pest control treatment: Pest Control Treatments

Pest Control Treatments

  • Outside barrier treatments to prevent pest invasions. The first place we'll go to stop existing bugs from becoming a problem in your home is outside. We want to keep bugs from coming into your home in the first place. Barrier treatments are typically applied to cracks and crevices that may lead into your home. These treatments usually include a low-dosage pesticide. Your windows, doors, eaves and other outdoor areas may be treated with a clear substance to deter pests from entering. Directly next to your home, we may place bait granules in the soil and plants to deter pests. We'll also treat areas where pests may hide in your yard (such as mulch, bushes and trees, fencing and other hiding places pests prefer).
  • Inside treatments to deter remaining pests. Because some pests are already in the home at the time of treatment, we provide a number of indoor treatments to ensure they're eliminated and kept under control until your next treatment. We may apply a dust inside some of your outlets and switch plates as well as your pipes to deal with pests that travel along these routes. If your attic is prone to problems, we can hang strips that help prevent infestations in that warm space. Much like the outdoor crack and crevice treatment, we'll treat indoor cracks in your kitchen, bath, crawl space, basement and garage with a low-level pesticide. We may also treat the door, windows and any other entrances to your home from the inside.

There are other methods that home owners can do to prevent pesky critters from infiltrating their home. Keep in mind, these techniques should be used in conjunction with professional pest control methods, not in place of them. Homeowners can start with their home exterior by finding all the cracks and crevices where bugs may be able to enter from. In the warmer months, homeowners should empty out all standing water in their backyards to prevent mosquitoes from laying their eggs. When it comes to the interior of the home, people should be sure that all food sources are properly sealed and stored away. Keeping dark and damp areas such as the basement or garage clean canh help reduce your pest problem. By keeping these areas tidy, bugs have less of an opportunity to settle down, make nests or webs, and reproduce.
