Crawl Space Encapsulation
Dirt Vented Crawl Space
The point of encapsulating a crawl space is to reduce humidity and therefore reduce moisture. Since our HVAC units are typically in our crawl spaces, when the HVAC unit turns on we are simply circulating unclean air throughout our house. Crawl space vents were initially designed to increase airflow and therefore reduce mold growth. By doing this, we are simply inviting high humidity into our crawl spaces which in turn causes issues such as condensation dripping off the air ducts trying to cool your house. This is not energy efficient and provides one key ingredient bugs and critters need for survival.
Safe and Dry
Condensation is exactly what bugs like spiders and roaches want and need to survive. Also, rats and mice need water to survive and if you can eliminate this moisture & humidity in your crawl space, you are drastically reducing your chances of bug and critter issues in your crawl. When you have humidity, you have moisture. Termites need moisture to survive and when you encapsulate a crawl space, you are making the area a controlled environment. Controlled being temperature and humidity. By simply removing one key ingredient insects need for survival, not only are you making your home more energy efficient, you are making your home much less inviting to bugs and critters! That's a win-win!
What To Expect
When you first call BREDA Pest Management, a live representative will schedule a BREDA Pest Management technician to come to your house for a free consultation.
BREDA Pest Management will have an inspector come out to the home and provide a no-charge inspection and estimate.
Crawl Space Encapsulation begins with removing any old plastic on the ground and removing insulation. Once this is completed, BREDA will install the wall curtain followed by installation of the floor liner. All crawl space vents are sealed from the inside and a commercial grade dehumidifier is installed.
