What You Need
Niban Boric Acid Bait
Alpine Dust Insecticide
Even though you might think the roaches in your home are “palmetto bugs,” we don’t have that kind in Georgia. The most common roaches in our state are smokybrown, American and brown banded.
The Big Idea
Remove areas of moisture! Keep your gutters clean throughout the year so they don’t become ideal locations for roaches to gather. Once the roaches enter the gutters, it’s easy for them to find a way into the attic. And once inside the house, they can trickle into other rooms.
In addition, roaches can eat all kinds of household items (ex: glue from envelopes, hair follicles).
One More Thing
We often see smaller roaches in apartment settings. They are commonly known as German roaches and generally the same size (½ inch). If the roaches are larger than ½ inch, the roaches could be other types (ex: smokybrown, brown banded or more commonly American cockroaches).
Purchase Niban Boric Acid Bait on a reputable site like Amazon.
Wearing doctor’s gloves, put small amounts of Niban in the landing area of your attic (area you stand when you first enter the attic). Don’t apply too much Niban! Keep the amount small and don’t throw it around.
With the Niban in the landing area, you know where it is and if the roaches are eating it.
Next, use the Niban on the outside of your home too. Specifically, apply the Niban to the base of your pine trees. Pull back the straw and place the Niban underneath. That way, the roaches will ingest in the Niban and die outside before they enter your gutters or attic. They are commonly called tree roaches for a reason.
Remove platelets on electrical outlets and apply the Alpine Dust Insecticide. Don’t let the dust clump out. Ideally, you want to see a plume of smoke when applying the dust. Do NOT treat outlet areas with aerosol because it’s a liquid and should not be sprayed on an electrical outlet.
You can also use the Alpine Dust Insecticide in cracks and crevices, but do not apply it to prep areas like countertops in the kitchen. You can also use the Alpine Dust Insecticide in cracks and crevices, but do not apply it to prep areas like countertops in the kitchen.
The Big Idea
